Would anyone here not upgrade a set of 2 year old 454 Pikes to new 150mm Revs? Cost not being an issue.

The Team Revs I'm looking at are longer travel (though similar axle to crown height), about 1lb lighter, purportedly stiffer (?) and should have better damping with the newer blackbox. Both are 20mm Maxle, Dual Air and U-Turn.

Rockshox have obviously discontinued the Pike range, any reason to keep hold of an old set?

Everything I've read so far suggests Revs are not as stiff as Pikes. Only you know if you ride stuff where you'll feel the difference.
Lighter and more travel would seriously tempt me if price wasn't a factor but they are so expensive. A push upgrade seems better value.

The Revs are so light that you expect them to be at least a bit flexy - but they're not. They're incredibly stiff.

Ridden mine on loads of rocky stuff and they're not far off my Fox 36 in terms of tracking.

Amazing fork.

Stiffness was a concern. I was originally thinking about switching from Pikes to air Lyrics. But, I can do without 160mm travel 95% of the year, and if the new Revs are stiff (with the "Powerbulge"!?) then this seems like a non brainer.

Jon - Merlin have some decent deals on Revs.

"The Team Revs I'm looking at are .. about 1lb lighter"
I'm not sure on that one
Am I right in thinking Pike 454 have alu. steerer tubes (426/409 being steel)
The weights for revelations are for the QR models, I'm assuming you're after 20mm?
My '10 Team Air U-turns weigh about 1880g(ish) according to kitchen scales
Dual Air should be a bit over 100g less going by the claimed QR weights, Dual flow rebound, non-blackbox '11 models (RL, RLT) are a few g less again

IIRC, 454 Air U-turn Pikes were around 2150g(ish)?
Or are you pikes Coil U-turn?

Interesting. My Pikes are apparently 2023g, though not weighed them. Looks like shaving off some weight isnt really going to be the number one priority, though 200g to 300g is worth it so long as the front end doesnt go all floaty.

I did just that a few months ago. The Rev RLT ti's I got from TF have been flawless. They feel no different to the plushness/stiffness of my old coil pikes but they weigh about 2lbs less and have 10mm more travel. No regrets.

My 2 motion control pikes were great, but blackbox damping is even greater. Do it!
