I know that there is no performance advantage and that it is only aesthetic, but how much would it cost to change a black Elite DPX2 to Kashima coated?
Probably cheaper to sell yours and buy a DPX2 factory shock.
I sold mine for £280 a few weeks back, so a elite DPX2 would probably fetch £200 or so used.
The air can can be changed easily but I think the lower/inner body would need to go to fox/silverfish as it'll need nitrogen charging, as it's the damper body.
You know the kashima on the shock doesn't match the seatpost/forks, don't you?

Why is this? It makes my teeth itch.
Stanchion tubes and seat posts are 7000 series aluminum, shock bodies and sleeves are 6000 series, Kashima Coat is a form of anodizing and the final color is affected by the base material underneath.
That's from Fox themselves (Pinkbike ask us anything).

I've seen forks where the kashima on one leg doesn't match the other. I think it's just that rather than being a really solid colour, the coating is the brown/gold but the brightness is from the aluminium shining through. So the longer it spends in the bath, or whatever, the darker or lighter it is. A lot of anodising's like that- I got a frame part reanodised by stevetheanodiser after it broke and I had to send him the original so that he could get the shade perfectly the same.
Get a coil shock and end the DPX2 madness ;o)

That's what I did, and why I sold mine 😀
