Long time Endura shorts fan. Last 2 pairs I have bought (Humvee II most recently) I found the liners quality falling badly. I still prefer to use my old liners from (ahem, cough) years ago. The padding in the older pair is still in good nick.
I only use the ones that come with the shorts at the moment, with Bib longs for the winter.
Who should I look to for great quality padded short liners?

Are the more expensive Endura padded short much better quality when bought as separate items?

What have people had good experiences with?

I don't want to go down the Bib shorts route as I generally sweat like a pig when riding and appreciate as much air flow as possible.

How weird, I was about to post about my recent discovery, then realised that people probably won't want to know!

BawBags are amazing. Synthetic boxers that wick, are comfy, don't chafe and don't get itchy.

They're good with any old shorts but where they really excel is with waterproof shorts. Was using them with Fox waterproof shorts on warm wet Cairngorm rides last week and they were awesome.

Reminded me of wearing a kilt.
Nice breeze.

I just use a decent-but-not-megabucks (e.g. DHB Aeron) bib-short under normal (not even necessarily MTB-specific as their only real purpose is to prevent me outraging public decency 😃) baggies.

yeah I've used UA boxers for years, very similar, not on the bike (for a proper ride, anyway) though as they're not padded!

Thanks Guys,

@thegeneralist - I am after padded shorts. I see a benefit in having a padded arse and tight shorts down to nearly the knee. They help me ride more comfortably and for longer.
I did have some padded boxers for a while which were pretty good but the thigh support of proper riding shorts has a perceived benefit to me. Also, if I bought my pants from anywhere other than M&S my mum would spin in her grave.

@zilog6128 - My bib longs for winter are DHB and have served me well for a few years. I will have a look at what's on offer. Thanks.

Ah righto. I hate wearing tight shorts/lycra in general and haven't used padded cycling shorts in 20 years. Decent boxers and normal shorts work fine for me anything up to 500km. 😉 Though I did change the boxers a few times that day*

* wasn't actually a day by the time I hit 500, it was half an hour over. But my point still stands that padded shorts aren't necessarily necessary.

500 km in a day! Dude, that's some ride!

I think I only became aware padded shorts about 1995 and found them a revelation. I do some riding without but feel it very quickly.

Watching with interest - my wife is also after some highly padded short liners.

highly padded

I'm interested in what does a 'highly padded' cycle short look like?

More padded than "almost-non-existent padding", which is what she currently has. I suspect I'm overthinking it - probably anything from an LBS is going to be better, and I should discount reviews on some shorts complaining padding was poor. They aren't for 500km - just toodling around on rental hybrids.

I use these Endura jobbies - very comfy without being too heavy/sweaty - just like normal boxers but padded!

They come in a box with 2 pairs - expensive but I got mine for a £20/two pairs in a sale - possibly SportsPursuit?
