Wow is all I can say!

These were light, very light but had all the tortional strength of a haribo. Eleven hundred quid is crazy!

looks like a very good example but it's well overpriced, true.

Great title - sounds like a description of just about any ride I've ever been on.

Occurs with most things/hobbys that go 'mature', you've only got to see the crazy money that gets asked for 'classic; cars and motorbikes - and most of them were cr4p when new, never mind now.

Yeah, but there's "classic" stuff for which people will pay good money because they were aspirational at the time and only made in small quantities (eg psychle's Bow-Ti), and then there are... old Treks.

Could you buy it, snap it, and get a replacement carbon frame under warranty? 🙂

I can remember how much the bottom bracket/cranks twanged when you stamped on the pedals, it was pure comedy. The thing could tie itself in knots. My mate had the silver/alloy and carbon one and it was so light and didn't fall apart in the year and half he rode it. But all of those carbon tubed alloy lugged 90s frames from Trek and Giant etc had glue issues.

If I was going to part with a grand for a classic mountain bike I'd go for a true classic - a Yeti FRO PRO, Kelin Attitude, Kona Explosif, De Kerf, Bontrgager etc. I mean you wouldn't get your wallet out for a Kirk Magnesium and least of all pay a premium for the privilege.
