Yeah, Lee was the designer of everything that wasn’t from a catalogue.

As well paid as Marino, by all accounts.

The stem reminds me the old Tioga and 24/7 DH stems from about 2000

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10621767/filing-history

also firsr mention of liquidator in the company ownership paperwork (may mean nothing)

ah i did my daily refresh and it slipped by.. 🙂

but no mention of my spot of the new world "liquidator"..

or that the address is the tattoo parlour. which i thought someone said was shut?

( the prev address was this accountancy firm : https://www.easterbrooks.co.uk/ )

why is/was the accountancy firm a long way from everything else? seems odd unless someone was near there.

I'm enjoying this soap opera as much as anyone, maybe a little too much but

but no mention of my spot of the new world “liquidator”.

You just saw that in a long list of those who can potentially sign the document. It was most likely not a liquidator, someone way more mundane like a director or accountant.

why is/was the accountancy firm a long way from everything else?

Because they could be anywhere, just Google for one that is cheap.

And as for why the registered address was changed back to Worthing, I can only guess but a change of accountants, fees not paid, fed up with queries about bikes not being received....

Liquidator is one of the people who can sign lots of different Companies House forms. The existence of the option on the form does not mean one is appointed.

No sign of any liquidator in office on Companies House yet and if they were you'd expect the registered office to move to their address not the shop.

I've just pre-ordered one of those liquidators. Apparently super-long* low** and slack***

I can’t believe that this is still going on. Loving the idea of a liquidator getting involved. Can just imagine their sad little face when all they have to liquidate is a single, not yet printed t-shirt, some apples and half a packet of slightly warm chewits.

The Irony just keeps piling on. This is one of their t-shirts from the May Drop (whatever that is)

Irony

Given that IIRC the original spat on here was about the shoddy quality of their welds, it's actually double ironic..

Though in fairness to them they seem to have taken all pre-orders off the site and are only flogging what they currently (if they're to be believed) have in stock.

I'm still very much of the view that we're dealing with two incompetents who have got in way above their heads, and are perhaps starting to understand that the language and behaviour of the skatepark/playground doesn't even begin to cut it when you're dealing with real people and real money..

Judging from the seat and head tube angles it's also not one of their frames. I guess they couldn't even find a fictional one to draw.

yup get that.. but all the other changes are carbon-copies, this latest change has it added. just pointing out that there is a change.

My wife went out for the evening and I had lots to do.

I seem to have had a couple of beers and read 35 pages of a STW thread, 5 pages of a PB thread, PB's "interview" and an article by Hannah that reminded me that good journalism is worth a couple of quid a month.

It's been emotional!

Good man, it's a fascinating read. Not good for those who've been had, but a salutary lesson on how not to run a successful startup..

Even better. Get that magic P by your name. Not only do the chicks dig it, they send you a nice shiny magazine (full of half decent journalism) from time to time

Heard or read this somewhere before, seriously all these shitty little UK companies should just leave it to the Taiwanese to design and make the stuff for them.

It more often than not winds up being like a bring and buy sale from Blue Peter.

Just saw Jordan near the tattoo shop (which clearly isn't trading), he had a sack with "swag" on it over his shoulder and was laughing maniacally. Probably full of apples.

Not really (obvs) but he wasn't wailing and gnashing his teeth either. Looked fairly chipper, considering.

To be fair Lee seems to have set this up quite a while ago and he seems to have done his job of delivering designs and renders. If the Death From Above does have a fault in it causing it to crease THEN we can have a pop at him, otherwise he’s just fallen in with a bad crowd...

Not really. I’d like to think that he’d be crying out for prototyping and testing so that such issues are found. As “the business” is sending things straight to market then I wouldn’t blame him if there are escapes

And at least this time his fellow directors have a history of.......incorporating companies, filing nothing and the companies being dissolved.

So I guess we are about to see that old bike company classic "dissolve old company and sell all existing stock to new company for one pound" how fittingly retro from our favorite snake oil salesmen!

If we were, I think it would have already happened. Sick Bicycles and Sick Corp are both owned/directed by Jordan and Tim (Lee had no involvement in the latter), and have been for a while. I genuinely think this is a clean break from them by Lee, having been screwed over for the last year.

Oooh, I do like the comparisons between Sick! and Rich. Potty mouthed, hairy CEOs (if that job title really applies), both convicted of being somewhat economical with the truth (one in the court of public opinion, t'other in a real court), both selling a product that seems to exist more in the imagination than reality (though according to Rich's twitter account the cans are being stocked by a petrol station chain in Indiana, so that's okay then), both seem to be actually clothing companies with a sideline in their so-called main product.

Interestingly nowhere on Rich's website does it list the ingredients of their so-called premium energy drink, but it was developed "with scientists", so that's okay then too.

In the old days this kind of thing was the domain of the smooth talking bar stewards. Now it seems the bearded trash talkers have moved in. Different clothes, same end result. Whoever stumped up the cash for their Formula 1 adventures is going to get burned methinks..

I guess Rich Energy are pissed off that Whyte didn't sue them sooner, so they wouldn't have had a load of cans made which they can't now use. Though it gives them an excuse.

I never had any interest in sick from the start but have vicariously followed there fall from grace with interest as I’m very local to them.

What i will  say is Jordan was looking very relaxed in Worthing on Sunday with his family spending your hard earned cash on shizzle!

over all though it sucks for all of us when people mug you off and thx god it’s only really happened to me once with another very well regarded company along time ago! Frame was put together by a blind monkey! Or perhaps that’s a blind monekey could of put it together better I’m not sure🤪

There is 40% off the at the moment making them £60, you would be mad to buy most SS stuff at full up money, there is always a discount code available. Even then though £100 for U.K. made pedals doesn’t seem far away. These are not my cup o tea, but you can bet they will sell em in bucket loads

But someone beat me to it. Back to work!

Be interesting to see if the bikes that are currently branded as Sick reappear at the end of July suddenly turn up with this branding instead....

Newly registered (on the 6th).
Being charitable I would go with him wanting a clean break from them and setting up a new company. So fair amount of similarity with the old bikes given the same designer but thats it. I cant see Marino building for them though not without all the cash up front and no pedals from superstars.
If it isnt him splitting off surely they would have the brains to make sure the brands cant be connected?

I followed Lee's instagram when he was coming up with interesting (to me at least) designs for Sick.  All he has done is changed the account name from 'a Sick engineer' to 'industrybikeworks'

Don't count your chickens. Much of the whole sick mess - it at least seems from the outside - is largely exacerbated if not outright caused by their inability to recognise, let alone learn from, the very obvious lessons of their errors.

Lee might be a completely different case but if he is he's left it very late to jump ship.
