Anyone else noticed the sharp uptick in wannabe YouTubers hawking their GoPro-ed efforts on various FB groups?

Call me a grumpy old sod, but I didn't even really wanna watch my mates' GoPro footage when we did that sort of thing in the early tensies, so I definitely don't wanna see some stranger wobbling down Cut Gate.

Any more unfortunate side-effects of the current situation?

More people moaning about optional viewing I suppose 😉

I see a few and if one catches my interest (somewhere I fancy riding), I'll give it a watch. Still miles better than most of the guff on TV.

I've doubled my views with the lock-down and I wasn't even uploading videos in the last year. Also hit 1k subs. I'm happy with the results lol

There are good, average and crap on youtube. Doesn't mean you have to watch it. Look at all the reality pish that is in TV. Love island FFS !

Other people's you tube vids are just about the most avoidable thing on Earth. Honestly...

I don't tend to look at other folks shite on YouTube so that's not been an issue. What I have seen though is the occasional rider (or groups of riders) who I suspect are more used to riding at trail centres "sessioning" bits of trail and don't really seem to care about other folks walking or riding up those same trails. Heavy bias towards eBikes with them as well (although not exclusively eBikes).

My really expensive Troy Lee kit I bought in February is too big now as I've ridden more than ever before!

No bikes available to buy.
No bikes available to see/try before ordering.
Increase in bike theft and robbery.
Paying more for worse components/parts you need because that's all that's available.
Local woods and trails more crowded, even on weekday evenings.

You could go for a bike ride instead you know...

Maybe take a GoPro and produce your own Sick edit?

Mentally switching off to all of the mates rides to reduce the stoke and Fomo due to working throughout Lockdown leading to complete lack of motivation to ride when opportunity arises.

I've been out on my MTB 3 times this year, makes me sad but i'm completely unmotivated to get back on it.

I do however cycle more as I am now taking a fold up 700c bike with me on the train into LDN to avoid the tube.

Montague Boston, odd looking but superbly built and ticks the box of foldable for travel at peak times.

Careful what you wish for.

You don't have to watch! I like average Joe videos. Riding the sort of trails I might ride, maybe helping me discover some new ones, falling off occasionally (Dave Jenvey, I'm looking at you) and having a laugh. Watching Brendan Fairclough et al in exotic locations is all well and good and I can appreciate them but they are completely unrelatable to the kind of riding I do.

Could be worse I'd quite enjoyed the bike packing pages not being spammed with diy videos about lauf forks and inflatable canoes.
But their back.

But worse than that are that every tommdick and harry on the zwift racing page has taken the time over lockdown to set up streaming and spamming the pages with every event they do thinking people actually care about them streaming their ride wether they are actually any good or not....

How ever Facebook has the handy *hide this drivel* option
