So - is there a way to match ultegra 11 speed shifters with a wide ratio cassette - 10 / 40 or 11 / 42? I believe s'humanise 11 speed Mtb mech won't work with road shifters?

Thanks

I use a long cage ultegra ultegra mech, with a lindarets road link and a 11-40 XT Cassette

@ nipper - because I'd like to use brifters with lower than roadie gearing on a Fargo . What's so weird about that? I'd like something like 48/34 with wide ratio casssette. Also Thinking about touring off road with gear

They've invented this thing... called it a front derailleur, amazing.... in a few yrs every bike will have one. Might even be that you can get up to 22 gears on your bike....

😉

Jeez - I never said anything about 1 x . Try reading before you get all smart arse . specifically said I was looking for something like 48/34 up front. Last time I looked that means I'll need a front mech

Seriously though, I thought a fargo allowed you to run mtb drivetrains. If you aren't sold on 1x as you mention you ought to get the low gears you need off a fairly normal rear cassette and mtb front 2/3x chainring combo?

Yes - but then you can't use road brake / shifter things as they don't work with a Mtb mech unless you use the thingies the chaps at the top mentioned - hence reason for this post

I currently have 3 x 9 Mtb drivetrain but am using bar end shifters

I use 22/40 11-32 set up which covers all and with 11sp brifters.
