A friend is keen for the lakes tomorrow on his day off.

Thinking of doing this

Anyone local who can advise on conditions. Never been in that particular area so a bit clueless.

Snow above 500 meters, and wet under that - expect compacted snow / ice on main paths

Ok. Thank you. Might be enough to talk him out of it until it's nicer.

Id say do it but avoid The Beds fell Knott option its usually very wet even in summer, the high level part at Boredale Hause shouldn't be too bad but it will be just on the snow level, ice is forecast tonight so it could make the lakeshore path interesting, enjoy, its a cracking route, do it clockwise.

We did it last Wednesday night, well somme of it... It was quite damp but great trails are always good. The bit over Martin dale will be a soggy pile of shite mind.

How about taking the BW up to Hartsop from Patterdale and then climbing to Hayeswater and then up towards High Street but turning off before the Knot and on to the trail past Prison crag, Satura Crag and then Angle Tarn - great all weather riding and then you can arrive at Boredale HAUSE and hit the tech steps to Patterdale and loop round the shore and up Boredale Head and the do the steps a again.

That is probably one of my favourite rides.
