Was going to chance it and order some stuff from bike discount, but the dropdown no longer has any of the UK options in it/

It was there yesterday

I saw this, this am. However if you go through the process of putting stuff in your cart, and log in etc the shipping option returns l.also the info section on UK purchase hasn't changed....

Seems they'd rather discourage UK shipping rather than stop it all together.... They've also removed GDP as currency option.

Update: scratch that it seems to think I'm German......

cranks, a shifter and a couple of other bits currently unavailable in the UK ordered last week and delivered today. Bonus was there was no extra import charges when it was delivered!

This seems to be the case at this time.

I contacted them last night, they replied this morning that its an issue with their new site and should be resolved today/tomorrow. Shouldn't be any problems with existing orders.

I got a long email from them today, presumably as mass mail shot. No idea what it said as it was very long and all in German

Customs duty and import tax- these should be the same.

It should be;

Import duty
Excise duty (if applicable for excise products)
Clearance charges
VAT (part of this will be VAT on Import duty + value of goods) and then VAT on the service to clear

Excise is only applicable for energy products, beers wines etc...

Do not think that the agents charges correctly all the time as they don't, i have no end of of issues with some big companies at work..

you're right; Excise Duty was £0.00, but in the fold on the letter

no; it took just over 24 hours for the order to be processed, packed and parcel reach the UK..........and then nothing for 2 weeks until the letter wanting money came today

I had my parcel force letter today for a sram AXS mech and Shifter that came into the country and cleared customs on the 14th. The letter was sent on the 16th February, so I'm not far off the 20day limit for parcel force to return the item. Luckily I know my local driver and managed to get the paperwork from him so I could pay the charges at the depo last week.

Worked out about £50 cheaper than the best UK price I could find even with the charges, bug I won't be risking it again from Bike discount...

I'm sure a lot of people want this question answered, what does, for example a €669 Lyrik plus €15 p&p, end up costing in pounds after all the fees.

Use this at your own risk but I calculate it to be thus:

Lyrik Ultimate RC2 29" DebonAir Euro 637.82
Delivery: Euro 15

Using this HS Code: 8714.91.30.29 ( https://www.findhs.codes/hs-codes-of-heading-8714) and this tool to calculate the import costs it suggests a Total Landed Cost of £677.67 (which includes 112.50 for VAT). There are no import duties for this part under the UK-EU Trade Cooperation Agreement

Again, please do your own research before parting with wads of cash 🙂

This is what is on BD invoice

An email from HMRC tell me this is the code they should use https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/8714913039#import

I was charged
Import Duty: £81.38
VAT: £132.54
Handling charge: £12.00
Total charges: £225.92

I believe I have been over charged and have summited a claim to border force

Yup, I fed that HS number into the tool and it still reports as being zero tariff from the EU. I think you have been overcharged

Only concern is that it's showing the country of origin as Taiwan. This might mean that while you purchase it from a company in Germany it's shipped directly from Taiwan. If that's the case then I don't know what the score is.

This is incorrect. Only items made predominantly within the UK or EU are exempt from import duty - and for bike stuff that’s a very short list, like Nicolai frames, Trickstuff brakes, etc.
