I'm currently running the Uberbike Race-Matrix compound pads. They offer good stopping power but wear quickly. I'm thinking of trying these new versions. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, using them?
Thanks.
I’ve moved over from race matrix to e-bike matrix or whatever they’re called (the blue ones). So far I think they’ve got a bit more bite then the white race matrix ones and I haven’t worn a set out yet. I didn’t find I went through the race matrix that quickly though.
@joebristol - Thanks for the feedback.
I guess it depends where and in what conditions your ride, mostly sandy soils for me, so wear rates of all components is high.
I ride mostly in the Bristol area + FOD and South Wales. I would say it’s average for brake pads wear. Nothing like Swinley which I imagine is horrific for brake pads and drivetrains!
You could always try the uberbike sintered pads if wear is an issue. Not quite as much stopping power overall as the matrix type ones but should be tougher against gritty conditions. I’ve run them before and they were fine.
I use the Uberbike sintered. They are a bit wooden in feel IMO but otherwise as Joe Bristol says.
I found the Uberbike sintered too hard. Lasted brilliantly, but as Kryton says they're a bit wooden and also bit slow to come up to full bite.
Last winter I used racematrix and just replaced them when worn because they're cheap enough, but I do find that in high summer on big descents they start fading quite badly.
I've spend this summer and now Autumn on E-bike blue pads. They cope with higher temperatures better than race matrix and are a tiny bit slower to full bite.
They're currently wearing faster in the wet season but less so that racematrix.
Seems like they're a hybrid between the two. This makes them pretty useful for moat UK riding IMO.
