Thought I'd try these as a few on here seemed to be getting on well with them. New ones front and back at the same time, bedded in exactly the same way. A few rides in I'm finding the back brake sounds horrendous!Mostly on longish descents in the wet, so is it the cold and wet? It sounds like metal on metal. Front proper quiet? Gave everything a good clean light sanding of rotor and pads, haven't had a chance to try yet. Talking to Uberbike they say try bedding them in again. So is that the issue or should I change them for Organic!? #backbrakedragger 🙄

I've got on fine with them and still am.

Their pads springs seem to be overlarge and sometimes on installation the spring arm ends up on the front side of the pads. Have you checked the pad install?

Not had an issue with mine. Used them in a guide re on the back and a code r front and back. Done a mixture of dry trail centre / damp and rainy uplift days and proper mucky off piste this week. All quiet so far and just plenty of power all the time.

I didn’t clean the rotors, I just popped the pads in and went up and down the road outside, braking heavily from speed to almost a stop until the power built (think 3 or 4 big stops) and then ridden them.

I don’t clean my discs or pads ever really I just ride them unless I have an issue.

Science officer , strange I found the opposite , springs a tight fit on the pads so no " overhang"

Mmm interesting..

I've just put race matrix pads in my rear SLX 4pot brake. They’d had shimano original previously. The first pair sounded horrid, a bit like you describe so sanded disk and put a new set in.

This quietened them down in the dry but they still howl in the wet.

my theory is the race matrix compound doesn't play well with whatever the shimano compound was.
Uberbike recommended cleaning disk with any brake cleaner and bedding pads in again so that’s my next job!

I'm running them in my Hope E4's. I had a problem with them with an IceTech rotor on the rear (centrelock wheel, so my Hope rotor wouldn't fit without an adaptor).

I had a lot of trouble with noise from the rear on any sort of longer descent, I've now swapped the IceTech rotor off and used an adaptor and it's fine.

SO, having messed about a bit with the rotors they seem pretty good, they stop, last and don't cause any issues on long descents.

Just out of interest Marlyn S my brakes are SRAM Guide REs , going to try bedding them in again see what happens . I find it strange that the front brake is nice and quiet though ?

Oldfart..

I've not had to replace the front yet...

says a lot about my riding style,

as well as the Uber/shimano compounds not mixing well I also wondered if I wasn’t getting the pad hot enough and it was just glazing over. The SLX 4 pots are really powerful and I’ve a 180 rotor on bye back

it’s not an ebike so I don’t have that extra weight to stop but it’s strange we’re both getting similar symptoms

ive used uber pads for years and they’ve always been brilliant

I'm with oldfart. I am usually a real cheapskate with pads buying 4x£4.99ers for all my bikes. After seeing the Uber e- pads I bought some as a break from tightness but they squeal like a strangled ferret. They work fine, no better than the guide originals but the noise is horrendous. I have cleaned discs etc but no different. Even when completely dry they still make some noise. Back to mega cheapies, I think.

I've got a set of the e bike pads in my E4's (only ones available during lockdown!) - they make an horrific sound - in both dry and wet conditions.

They were bedded in correctly on a new rotor and the brake is setup properly.

I've just ordered a set of Uber sintered instead as I've never had a problem with them or the race matrix compound before.

Interesting last two replies thanks , just been out and bedded them in again (after a proper clean ) wait and see now . Uberbike say it won't be the pads but I could try Semi Metallic if I wanted .

Hmmmm this is interesting stuff, I've just swapped the pads in my SRAM Force 1 for racematrix and the back are squeezing like a pig in a slaughter house on long hard descents. I've had no trouble using them on Shimano brakes at all for years but I'm going to check the pad spring now....
