Hi guys , money is going to be a bit soon as I'm being made redundant so I'm after some reasonably priced tyres for the coming season while there's still money coming in .
Been looking at some kenda smoke and kinetics tyres , anyone have any experience of these ?
My local riding consists of rocks , roots and winter mud .
Many thanks
Ian
i found a good allround combo to be highroller front and an ardent rear
Baron black chilli
Panaracer rampage sc.( check out the review at Bikeradar )

Yep, that's what I'm running and I'm well pleased with them
I've been impressed by Maxxis Beavers even outside of proper winter conditions. To the untrained eye (mine) they look similar style to bonty ACX which suited me well for many a year, and £60 a pair from next day tyres isn't too shabby compared to many prices nowadays.
If you're going to on a tight budget, continental verticals. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CONTINENTAL-VERTICAL-26-X-2-3-INCH-MOUNTAIN-BIKE-TYRES-PAIR-/380484378544?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item5896a2dfb0
Bonty xr4 or Schwalbe Nobby Nic snskeskin are my tyres of choice, both excellent in all conditions, the Nic slightly less so in clay.
Thanks guys but anyone used the kendas in my op ?
I have used Panaracer Smokes...the soft 'Compe' compound on the rear and they were excellent in mud, but draggy on hardpack. They had a tendency to lose side knobs in rocky terrain, but never ripped a sidewall.
Kenda Kinetics was OK on the front, but defo not a favourite tyre.
Things have really moved on, so look at the advice above, particularly the Verticals if money is tight.
For Swinley and the sandy local area I prefer a Rocket Ron up front with a Bonty Mud X this winter, but it will change next year.
I switch to home-made studs for snow and ice.
Pick a big name and look for bargains on On-One, ebay and occasionally Wiggle, CRC, Merlin, AllTerrain, WoollyHat etc.

Thanks Paul
Money is tight , tried the verticals before and hated them , I'll have a look on the on one site .
Thanks
Ian
Verticals have NO grip, one of the worst tyres I'v ever tried. Many slide-outs and crashes thanks to them, horrid things.
High rollers are not a good allrounder in my opinion, rolling resistance is huge. Good for dry conditions and general grip/downhill stuff.
Mud X are good allround, as are Nobby Nics, Rampages and Cinders.
There's somebody on the classifieds just now selling a load of tyres.
Love Higheollers for the front but they are draggy in sticky format on paths etc. I don't mind, I don't notice it on the trails in the mud!
Second hand off here = bargains. I am running all my bikes for me, mrs_oab, kids and mates off them.
Keep your eyes out for unusual sizes, unfashionable makes. However my maxi cross marks were a bargain. 2.1 maxi high rollers were good, when most want 2.35 plus. Great as they cut through the mud and great grip.
Whatever, ride whatever you have into the ground and enjoy, it's all good.
Best deals I found were on bike-discount.de and they arrived in 4 days from Germany
Thanks for all the info guys, got some on the classifieds in the end .
