Looking for some recommendations for tyres for my orange speedwork, currently have 29x2.0 Vittoria revolution the tred is tiny so it picks up every tiny stone and pieces of glass, one bonus is they seem pretty puncture resistant due to the tred.
Looking for something faster rolling, lighter, and with some grip for canal tow paths? Anyone run anything on there mtb?
I’d look at PX, lots of off the wall choices for not much money.
Light, fast rolling, and grippy? Add puncture resistant and you've described the magic tyre that everyone wants. I don't think you'll find much that's faster rolling than the Revolutions? You're right about them picking up every bit of detritus they come across though 🙂
If you want something that's a little grippier maybe Schwalbe G-ones. I also like the look of the Scwalbe Land Cruisers: https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-parts/bike-tyres/schwalbe-land-cruiser-tyre-700x40c-368339.html but I've not used them.
Bontrager GR1
Victoria Terreno run tubeless.
I've just bought some Schwalbe Land Cruisers for my 29er hybrid. Going to fit them this afternoon, see what difference they make to the stock ones.....
I re-fitted a 2.35" G One Speed to the front of my fatbike yesterday and I seem to be going quicker than when I had a 28mm Conti 4 Season on there (both with 26x4" Jumbo Jim on rear).
I've got a pair of 26x1.9" Land Cruisers in the shed from my old hybrid from 2008-2014, at the time I loved their versatility, but tyres have moved on so I've no idea how well they roll compared to G One Speeds (not to mention I'm older, although generally lighter and fitter, except not feeling so fit right now).
I keep wondering about trying a pair of 29er Land Cruisers, but I think they are heavier than the 700x38 Marathon Cross (~560g each iirc) I have, which are pretty good all-rounders... It's a shame they only come in wire bead just like Land Cruisers, because folding bead would knock a fair bit of weight off them.
The other tyres I keep thinking about but yet to buy are the Gravel King SKs, plenty of 700/29er sizes and at leasty some are officially tubeless.
I run Schwalbe g ones on my PX London road they're pretty quick on the road or hard pack and have decent grip until it gets sloppy.
