Son used to ride a 26in hardrock with Panaracer rampage tyres front and back.
According to him they were awesome.
Now he's on a 650b bike with Conti Mountain King II and whilst they've been solid so far, I think he is pining for something like the Rampages.
Can't find any (perhaps my google fu is waning) online, so suggestions for a good alternative?
I suppose looking for something which is gripping on fairly sandy (i.e. sandstone derived) mud and muck for this time of year.
Any suggestions?
26 inch Rampage was an inferiour nevegal copy, so, maybe one of those?
I agree with nw above, ran both rampages and nevegals on my 26" and the nevs were better
Also agree, the Rampage was horrible under braking, esp. on the front.
Yep Nevs but for some reason rampages seemed better to me - could be that rampage was on FS which only got ridden in half decent conditions, nevs were on HT that got ridden in all weathers. Not great in mud and TBH rather drifty in a lot of dust (that was in spain, it's not normally a problem in the UK)
I liked em but I now much prefer minions, maybe worth a go?
(still run UST nev as a rear tyre backwards, works well for me)
I rate the newer Nevegal x Pro as a rear allrounder. Faster rolling than the old Nevegal/Rampage design and with a more rounded profile. Pretty light too for a robust 650b TR tyre (assume same can be said for 26")
OK, so Nevegals as a good option as similar to Rampages. Thanks for the steers so far!
Knowing nothing about the specific qualities of these things, I'm surprised that the usual suspect tyres haven't been mentioned (e.g. those from the Schwalbe stable etc etc).
What "sort" of tyre was the Rampage (or is the Nevegal), what are they suited to etc etc?
larkim - MemberWhat "sort" of tyre was the Rampage (or is the Nevegal),
"normal sensible everyday tyre", really.
Maxxis Minions are similar to Nevegals in feel but generally better IME.
