Currently running 27.5 x 2.6 Rekon on the rear and high roller ii on the front.

First ride with plentiful mud yesterday and I'm wondering if going narrower with a different rear might improve the squirm factor? Wouldn't want them to be be too draggy though.

Any suggestions, what are the current go to's?

Bike is a t130, usual ground conditions are loam / typical mud with a bit of sand, gravel and chalk thrown in.

I’d fiddle about with tyre pressure before shelling out

Cheers, running approx 25 both ends. Tend not to go lower as I'm on the heavy side. Higher and I found they lost grip much easier on the firm stuff.

I had one albeit 2.8 on the rear of my hardtail.
Great in the dry. Grippy. Rolled well.

Different story in the mud but not surprising. The knobs are pretty shallow and fairly closely spaced.

What about a 2.3 DHR 2? I only say 2.3 as the 2.4 are good bit draggier as they have bigger/taller knobs.

Depends on your preference really. Il put up with a bit more drag for grip in the wet.

I'm on a 2020 T-130 & have just switched out the 27.5 x 2.6 HR2 & Rekon that came on the bike.
They were pretty good over the summer, but have not been great since things got a bit damper.
I have been running a Maxxis Assegai (front) & Dissector (rear) for a couple of weeks now, both 27.5 x 2.6 MaxxTerra Exo+ & are a significant upgrade IMHO - I run them at a lot lower pressure than you, but am not that heavy.
The Assegai is not noticably slower rolling on the front & the Dissector is like a more aggressive version of the Rekon & seems to roll fairly well on the rear.
Not ridden in real slop, but both seem to clear mud pretty well - plenty of grip on the steep, natural, technical, rooty, loamy trails that I ride.
You could also try your HR2 on the rear & buy another front tyre as an alternative?
