What do you mean by 2.35 rims? If you mean, rims came with 2.35" tyres on, fitting 2.5" tyres will be fine. Some '2.5"' tyres are narrower than other '2.35"' tyres.

I doubt your rims are 2.35 but 2.5s will be fine.

Wet screams are designed for proper shitty conditions. Good for that but draggy and squirmy the rest of the time. Cutting them down makes a good intermediate tyre.

2.35 rims

Rims are measured in mm.. So a mavic 717 rim is 17mm wide.

But if you've run a 2.35 fine, you will probably be fine with a 2.5, if your frame and fork can take it. Never heard any horror stories from people running too big tyres.

I've seen a frame worn through by a too big tyre.
