I've just bought a new set of carbon wheels, the first for me, and in the process of getting the new tyres on I managed to break all of my tyre levers, it was a tough bugger.

So now I need to get some new tyres levers, any recommendations for carbon rimmed wheels?

Thanks.

I’ve just got 2 DH tyres onto WeAreOne rims using a combo of Tacx ones and some park heavy duty steel ones.

I really like the Lezyne Powerlevers, not the XL ones, the little guys with a hook on one end. They're not strong, but they have the best hook shape I've ever used, which means it's easier to get tyres on and needs less force. If you try and brute force them they will break, mind you, so you've got to avoid frustration. The XL is stronger and more leverey but also has a thicker hook so it loses the magic. I've basically never found a tyre to be physically hard work since I switched to these- some still put up a fight like Conti dh tyres but the actual levering's easy enough, it's just that they like to fall off more than they like to go on.

I have a couple of newer tyreglider type things but I think I'm too stupid to work them.

Pedros for me. Tight tyre and rim combos are as much about technique as levers IMO. Getting the tyre in the centre channel and making sure next to the valve is the last place you do (as that is in the channel so if you do it early it uses some potential slack). For super tight tyres (challenge hand made tubeless CX tyres, well over an hour to fit fit the first one!) I found thier bead lever tool useful (was expecting it to be crap but it wasn't).

I've found that the Giant ones supplied with my SLR1 carbon wheels have been great. They also have a valve core remover clipped into the back of one of them. Handy.

I hit my first ever "unmountable" tyres last month. After struggling for far too long to fit them I sent them back for a refund. There's no point in fitting them once if they can't be removed and refitted at the trail/roadside.
