Tyre damage from uplift?

Is this a thing?

Whilst researching which tyres for BPW I came across a few posts that suggested the uplift can pop lightweight tyres off. Then you lose a run or two fixing it. Should I really be worried about this?

(I was thinking MM and maybe a Nobby Nic on the back)

Not something I’ve encountered using the uplift trailers at BPW and Dyfi over the years, if I’m honest. More of an issue is what the shale at those two bike parks does to lightweight/XC weightweenie tyre carcasses. Don’t skimp there, and you’ll be reet!

Never had a problem on the uplift. It's on the way down where your flimsy sidewalls will be an issue.

I can imagine lots of things can pop a tubeless tyre off, especially ones that struggle to stay on rims.
If you are worried stick some tubes in.

Have your tyres popped off before ?

We’ve never had a problem with Maxxis 3C EXO tyres (HR2,DHF and DHR). They’re not super light but in no way DH tyres.

just buy some heavy duty tyres for uplift days. Nothing worse than getting flat and missing a run or 2. You can swap them off when back home.

Isn't that EXACTLY what the DH in DHR and DHF stands for?

DHF and DHR is just the tread pattern

EXO
EXO+
DD

Lightweight tyres, low pressures, ramming a tyre into a trailer - yeah, I could see that burping it or more.

Have I ever seen it? No.

Do I run reasonably chunky tyres and reasonable pressures? Yes.

Never had an issue even with xc tyres, not there or anywhere else with similar trailers. I've had a flat and you do see a few of those but who knows, maybe I already had the puncture before i loaded it? TBH I'm not sure what about the uplift trailers would specifically risk it?

Cool thanks.
I wasn't worried (or even thought about it) until I'd read those posts. Never popped a tyre off before. But never ridden anything like BPW before.
Thanks for the advice

More likely they have punctured on the way down and when they get to the top the tyre is flat and flopping about.

My wife always ran just over 20psi in her tyres and I run mine at 30ish (I hate the feel of tyres folding when your in the corners. No idea if that helped or not.

It was £20 years ago when you had a choice of single ply, double ply, and thick or thin innertubes.

Seen on long transfers slight chaffing of the side wall but that's it.
