Just wondering people's thoughts on whether this is enough tyre clearance? wanting to run more than a 25mm tyre (these are 28's) as the roads I'll be riding won't be the best! My obvious worry is if i pick up a small stone or the like..

Looks tight.

How flexy are the wheels? Is it a permanent switch or just for a one-off ride? Chainstays as close a squeeze?

not a lot of flex in the wheels..its a defy composite running the standard P-SL1 wheels. theres loads of room to the sides, its the lack of room at the top of the tyre and the seatstay bridge?? Im taking the bike on holiday for a week, so probably 4 or 5 rides..

I had more room than that when I put 25s on my bike and it still rubbed a bit, with Mavic Ksyrium wheels (which are very stiff).

probably 4 or 5 rides..

Probably be alright then. Maybe.

I have 25s (Michelin Pro 4) on my Wilier with tight clearance. The front tyre picked up a load of stones on a newly surface-dressed road, and scrubbed off all the paint under the fork crown.

That looks too tight to me, you're only a tiny buckle away from the tyre rubbing.

They're noticeably bigger than my Conti GPs in 25c - I haven't got anything else to compare them to. Also a bit puncture prone - not sure I'd recommend them.

same frame and wheels here, just went up from original 23's to GP4000's in 25c - wouldn't want much larger in there for road debris etc. looks mighty tight in the pic.

Don't do it. I had more clearance than that on my carbon Roubaix bike with Roubaix tyres fitted, which have a deep profile for cushioning. The normal flexing of the chainstays allowed the tyre to contact the underneath of the bridge and wear it right down to the carbon weave. If you do run that tyre, check the underneath carefully after the first trip out. A gritty tyre makes very short work of a frame, carbon or alloy.

yeh, think im just gonna give that idea a miss.. a lot of people are reiterating my thoughts regarding debris on the wheel taking some lumps out my carbon!

Change your wheels to a more modern width (hed ardennes, A23's, archetypes etc) then you will get the plusher ride of a bigger tyre because of the width bit it will not be so tall.
