Hello again,
In short:
Bike Genesis Longitude, tyres WTB TRAIL BLAZERS(27.5 + x 2.8"). There is just enough clearance with Tubus Tara lowrider rack. How durable are they? Apparently tubeless ready. If you had to cycle for a few months fully loaded front and back, would you just go tubeless and stick with these? Any experience? Would it be better/stupid to swap for Schwable marathon plus MTB(2.25") ?
Was asking not that long ago about Genesis Vagabond here, but after lots of thinking decided that I already have a cyclocross bike for gravel, and also a lovely steel Fairlight Strael for gravel/road(I even used it for a muddy CX sportive with 33 gravel tyres).
I managed to find an ex-demo Genesis Longitude instead and since 5pm today, I'm a proud owner of this tank 🙂
Many thanks
What about ardent 2.6? More tread than marathon plus, fast rolling and sliddy when you want some fun. The 2.6 would give more clearnace.
Given the 135mm back end not sure you'd want.more than a 2.8". The trailblazer is not wide but I found the centre tread meant it rolled surprisingly well. Currently got a bridger 3" front and 2.8" ranger on the rear for more grip. Not sure how they would fare for touring.
OP, what’s the
Terrain/surface?
Weather?
Speed?
So, went for a proper ALL terrain ride in Devon today.

It's so different from what I was riding before, but in a very good way. Had a smile on my face all the time.
To answer Malven Rider - I'm taking it for a long trip in South America, so just want to make sure the tyres are right for riding long distances on varied terrain with little punctures.
Recently exchanged my Vagabond for a Longitude Mk1 and I’m impressed with Conti Race King Protection 2.2,light, roll well in a wide variety of terrain, seem tough. Early days though.
Good reading here re bikepacking tyre choices, incl 27.5+

Hi all. I bought a 2019 Longitude last week end. I like it and I am running the trailblazer tubeless. I am also going to 1x this week end. I would like to have a more aggressive and round tyre for muddy conditions but still stay in the 2.8/3.0 range. However, I find that the chain is soo close to the tyre that I’m wondering why Genesis defines this game as capable of running 3.0 tyres
The Longitude is rated for 3.0" tyres, but realistically you have to be runnning 1x gearing on it. I have 3.0" WTB Rangers with a Superstar N/W ring and there's no issue with the chain rubbing the tyre.
