Is anyone using a Hans Dampf on the front ?
I did for a brief time on my old Hightower and it did pretty well. Can't remember having a problem with it.
Works fine for me.
I find the hans dampf is limited, especially in soft stuff, it gets decent reviews but I just couldn't wait to change it, it's not a tyre I'd consider upfront, I can think of about ten tyres I'd rather put up there.
Jack of all trades master of none, it just doesn't excel anywhere IMO. Sorry hans fans.
Hans Dampf is my go-to front tyre. ..27.5 enduro bike and my 29er hardtail. No complaints from me
Too many variables to answer tbh, as you can see from responses above, it all depends where you live and what kind of riding you do.

Exactly. I run one on the front on an XC trail bike, with either a Ralph or Ray on the back. If I was racing XC, I'd probably run a Ray upfront and Ralph on the back. If I was into serious DH/Enduro stuff, something much bigger and grippier up front. As a jack-of-all-trades tyre, I find it suits what I do.
Normally running with purple MM up front and orange Hans on back both SG casings. I'm finding that in the dry the Mary has washed out a few times.
i did one ride with a hans dampf soft on the front and it was terrible, back to a dhf maxi grip and its night and day better. could be a decent back tyre but i don't mix brands so sold it. currently on DD aggressor rear dhf front.

I was all set to take the 2.6 Mary off and fit 2.6 Butcher, but trails are so dry, they've broken down into like loose compost, the Mary is gripping brilliantly!
Washing out a purple Magic Mary, that usually takes some serious cornering.
DHF 2.5WT
Yeah I was thinking of a Minion reportedly much better on hardpack/gravel
Never really loved the old Hans upfront [in 26"], it seemed to lack edge when leaned over. SO it seems a more XC style tyre, for steering rather than leaning.
I was thinking of trying the new model Hans SG / 27.5 / 2.35 as a rear on the Geometron. (better than the Michelin Wild Enduro rear I imagine, for terrain see below, reports say the Mich' drags and doesn't brake well.)
I like the Mary 29" in snakeskin 2.35 addix soft upfront. [might try a cushcore in that for more grip & better rolling than the alternative extra soft SG version]. It'll not beat my favourite Bonti G% DH tyre upfront but that's uplift days only, and when are those returning!
I've had as DHR2 2.35 Maxxterra on the back, but since it got dry I've been using the Maxxis Aggressor WT 2.5 Dual instead. However, having read (Seb Stott) on the Hans = grips better and rolls easier than Aggressor too. Good on rocks, how about roots I wonder? Tempting? Its not cheap though.
Hans Addix Soft is a softer compound than the Maxxis dual I guess - & with bigger edge knobs. Hans has not tested well in wet / soft ground but then a Shorty would go on for soft Wintery ground here 'cos its proper claggy clay.
Might the Hans be a good choice for the South Downs' rock hard chalk with kitty litter on top?
Thoughts welcome ;~}? Anyone thinkg the Much Enduro rear is better than the Hans for kitty litter over hardpack?
I don't mind a few seasonal tyre changes.
thanks guys
