Hi guys. I've got a Dawes Horizon tourer. I've recently had a bit of trouble with it. I pump up the front tyre and it's fine, then after a few miles a bubble develops and starts to catch on the brakes so I have to deflate the tyre and reinflate (so the tyre bead sits within the rim). It's happened a couple of times now and am wondering what could be causing it? I'm not exactly slight (being 16st) and am running the front tyre at close to max psi. And help appreciated, am thinking as a fat knacker it's not taking my weight but an other help or suggestions how to negate the problem would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Tyres are delta cruisers if it helps...
The bubble is the inner tube squeezing between the tyre bead and the rim? Try a better quality inner tube. If no joy, try a different tyre.
Inner tube is a new continental one. Same problem with the last tube and old tyre. Just a thought, when I brought the bike (second hand) it had no front mudguard as the previous owner said it came off during a accident. Can the wheel deform enough to cause this? To the eye it looks straight though...
Is it the wrong rim ? If it`s an old replacement wheel maybe it has not got a hook bead rim and you need a different tyre designed for lower pressures
As far as i'm aware it's all as it should be - 700c x 35 tyres (same as what was taken off).
Just remembered when i brough the bike it didn't have the front mudguard - the previous owner said a bag had got caught and ripped it off causing him to fall off and a spoke to bend. Could this be my problem, ie the wheel is damaged somehow? It dosent seems buckled etc.
Cheers.
Try refitting the tyre with talc, which will lubricate the bead and allow it to fit more evenly on the rim.
Cheers for that tip globalti - will give it a go tonight.
