Just ordered a new bike and it comes with Minon DHF and Dissector tyres. I've never used these before, are they any good? I've read some good things about the Continental Kryptotal tyres, is it worth getting a set of those instead?
Also, I'm indeed of some new tubeless sealant as I've ran out of Stans. Is Stans still the go-to or is there anything else worth trying?
I’m very happy with Vittoria sealant for low pressure applications. Still liquid after a year and water soluble, a thin dried residue on the inside of the tyre peeled off in a very satisfying manner!
Where do you ride and what kind of riding do you do? Minions and Dissectors are fine tyres on my trail bike.
I have Kryptotal on my bikepark/uplift bike and they're great on that.
I put Kryptotal on the trail bike and it sucked the life out it. Very sticky and draggy. Went back to Maxxis.
I still use regular Stans for everything it's fine. Can't be bothered to try everything on the market unless there's something obviously much better.

Is that not just Stan’s in a different bottle?
@ratherbeintobago I don’t think so, never used Stans, isn’t that latex based and suffers from balling up and drying out?
Vittoria is quite thin but with pretty silver glitter that helps with the plugging process. As above, it had been sloshing around for over a year in my fat bike and I only replaced it as I was changing tyres.
There is one of the branded sealants that’s repackaged Stan’s. Maybe it’s Schwalbe then?
Minion DHF in exo+ maxxgrip is a decent tire, prefer the Assegai maxxgrip these days personally but haven't used a Dissector
DHF is a perfectly good tyre, not the best these days but who actually needs that? Depends a bit on the compound and carcass though, but unless it's giving you immediate problems it's not a "change this quick"
Dissector I absolutely hate but some people like it, ymmv. Not fast enough for the amount of grip is gives up, and it's got horrible sliding manners imo, goes very sideways. But better riders than me disagree so, give it a go.
For sealant, I really like Oko Hi Fibre (same as Halo). It seals at least as well as stans- who really knows, every flat is different, but it's in the ballpark- and it's way cheaper. Plus it can last forever, because it's water based and water soluble so if it's drying up you can literally just add water to thin it back down. Though, this is important, this DOESN'T work if it completely dries, it doesn't re-dissolve once set, you have to keep it wet.
Downside is you're not supposed to mix it with stans or similiar sealants. And you can get Stans pretty much anywhere, whereas not everyone has Oko/Halo, so if you're away from home and need a topup you might not be able to find it. THis s a big advantage for Stans tbh, it's not the best but it's ubiquitous.
