I'm after a set a decent mud tyres.
Now, I don't buy tyres willingly and not after something over the top and fancy. Just a set of tyres that work in the mud and are highly recommended. Don't really mind on price being honest.
I've spotted some Schwalbe Dirty Dan in 2.00 flavour. Any good?
Type of riding? Bike?
General XC and Trail centre use etc. Nothing to major.
Cotic Soul
Most probably just in need of some winter tyres than some mud tyres then.
What are your current tyres?
Maxxis Beavers are lovely. Maxxis medusa for real slop.
I tried some Spesh Storms last week, although good in the wet, a bit too skinny and slippy on Rocks for me. Just like my Bontager Mud-x's
So I'm going for a less mud specific tyre. Bought some 2.2" spesh purgatory tyres. Trying them tonight but get good reviews.
Same Bike and same type of riding BTW
Well, I'm trying to get away from Trail centre's if I can. I live near a few and obviously they get used a lot, but wanna try and get more out of the Dales/Peaks if I can...
Current tyres are Nobby Nics. The rear tyre is almost on it's last legs, front isn't too far behind (or infront...) Half tempted with another set of them like, as they've been very kind.
Doing HTN next February and thinking more about tyres for that really, as it's apparently a bit of a mud-fest!
Where i ride, slippy rooty, greasy in the wet mud x all the way.

vortexracingI tried some Spesh Storms
forgot about these, great tyres too. I would disagree about them being too skinny and slippy, at least the 2.1 control versions aren't. No worse on roots and rocks than any comparable tyre.
As said, beavers are lovely, best reserved for worst.
NNs do ok in the slop and not great.
A good tyre set-up to get you though winter with confidence maybe maxxis advantage rear, minion dhf front. More than grippy enough for trail centre and rocky peak riding. There is better for mega mud, off camber, steep and root, this is where you're maybe go for the beaver.
My view of what will work.
No worse on roots and rocks than any comparable tyre
I meant to my usual 2.35 swampies, so i appreciate they are different tyres, espacially in volume
I've had a Swampy and Advantage combo in the past, a good few years ago. Although it was a good set-up, I fancy something different. I'm a now a sucker for having the same tyre front and rear, if possible.
Not necessarily the best way to do it, I know.
