Hi,

I am working in South Wales on Friday and am thinking of having a quick blast around the Twrch trail on my way home.

The mbwales site says that there are diversions due to felling but I am not sure how up to date this information is?

Thanks

Basically the whole climb is closed for felling. The diversion goes up the road to rejoin the trail at Castle Valley. Sometimes the diversion lets you go to Odin but it depends upon what machinery are working at that time. Cafall is fully open so still worth a visit if you're close.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I have never rode the Cafall trail. It seems short (14km) but the mbwales web site estimates 2.5-3.5 hours - is that accurate? - I really only want to spend 2 hours max as I have a fair way to go afterwards.

If you're fairly competent, Cafall is easily doable in less than 2 hours - I can do it, and I'm a 50 year old mincer!

On your own Unless you get into a trail head queue 😉 2hrs is plenty for Cafall. Any more than that for anyone other than a complete novice is a relaxed social ride. Enjoy, some people knock it but its a great somewhat challenging trail centre fix 😀
