Will I die? They're not as easy to get off as powerlinks and I'm thinking about a new front mech.

I used to do this deliberately, in adjacent links, so that if I ever snapped my chain I would have a spare on the chain I could use.

No problemo - unless you are using a Sh1tmano chain of course.
