Further to my previous posts about buying a van, Mrs O_H_H sanctioned further funds (inc breaking in to the wedding fund!) and as such we now own a 2005 Kombi! Much excite!
Naturally we want to go for adventures immediately. Thinking of test running two days riding and one nights camping somewhere not a million miles from home next weekend.
Currently thinking Llandegla as I haven't been for a decade and another Welsh trail centre with a night in a campsite in the van in between.
Havent ridden any Welsh trail centres other than BWP, Antur or Black Mountains in ages. I.e nowhere without an uplift...
So; recomendations for another trail centre for begginerish rider (she's riding Whinlatter, Glentress and Gisburn reds etc so not complete novice).
Also a campsite somewhere near / between Llandegla and aforementioned other trail centre. Doesn't have to be too fancy just a pitch and a clean/decent shower and toilet block really!
Cheers STWHiveMind!
Bodnant campsite in llanwrst.
ride ‘degla, drive to llanwrst, camp, Marin trail.
you can ride from the campsite to the Marin really easily should you wish!
There’s a campsite just north of llangollen at the foot of worlds end, you can ride up and over to degla from there. It makes it a proper ride then it’s a bit short just to spin round degla.
Then something on the way out? Where are you going from?
2 days to ride in North Wales and you're choosing to ride trail centres on both days?

Just because it's easier to get Mrs O_H_H out and around a way marked trail centre rather than having a domestic while I try and map read and listen to a chorus of 'I'm not riding down that'...
We'll be coming from the west mids so maybe Marin Trail, stay at Bodnant and ride Llandegla on the way home.
West mids....
don't discount long mynd then.
nice wee campsite in little Stretton. Route finding is really easy around there. Can’t remember the name of the bike shop that has camping pods and chalets attached but it’s south of church Stretton just over a level crossing. They have really good, easy to follow maps.
Riding is brilliant, some stuff is steep but nothing worse than a red. Do ‘degla, down to Shropshire camp, go to the bike shop I can’t remember the name of, do long mynd, go home...

Stayed there again this weekend and can recommend it also.
Two really good pubs for food and drink a 2 minutes walk away.
Also a very cheeky path that drops you back into the camp site...
We did Long Mynd, camping, a while ago. Went down well helped by good pubs in Church Stretton, bit of a walk from the campsite. She walked one of the steeper rock descents but otherwise fine.
We stayed in the campsite behind the bike shop; bit noisy due to a school group and overlooking a minor road, but otherwise good.
