So me and the lad are going up to fort bill to watch the DH Friday & Saturday 4/5 august and got to be in Sheffield on the following Tuesday night. Was thinking of finding somewhere to stay in the tweed valley for 2 nights Sunday and Monday, but aware that the XC starts at GT on the Sunday I think and there’s some trail closures up there from another thread so wondering if better avoiding the area at that particular time? We will have all of Monday and half of Tuesday. Sunday travelling and going to Jupiter artland. Looks like we could get a camping pod at Innerleithen for 2 nights.
Never ridden the tweed valley before so wondering what’s best to do? 53 year old wheels on the ground rider and 22 year old son who is fit and brave but not a regular mtber… inners? Golfie? Somewhere else…?
I know the B&B I usually stay in is so fully booked to the extent the owners have rented their own bedroom out! So I'd expect it to be mega busy on the waymarked stuff

<li style="text-align: left;">Gypsy Glen route for Tuesday. Normally starts at Cardrona and finishes at peebles. Cracking 2 hour loop
Midges?
Hmm yeah midges. I thought heading east might be sensible for less midges. Is that not the case?
other option would be to head to Dumfries and Galloway is that a better idea?
Midges aren’t too big a deal here. Certainly not enough of a reason to not visit. I’ve lived here 20? Years and not really been impacted at all.
Midges aren't too bad at the moment, rain over the weekend might increase their numbers. Don't stop cycling 😀
Turns out the accommodation isn’t available anyway so we’re off to mabie and Ae instead🤷🏼♂️
