Im off to the tweed valley next month I’ve ridden a lot at the golfie and was thinking of checking out the new trails in Glentress. Im also looking at some more offpiste tracks what would your recommendations be.

Also looking at a campsite with a hook up so i can charge the ebike.

How many days have you got, what trails have you ridden already and which ones did you enjoy?

I have 2 days maybe 3. Ridden ny,ny,3g , avalanche,hangover,waterworld, plus a whole load of others.

Prefrence is for steep tech, never ridden in glentress but have signed up for tweedlove(hate racing but gives me purpose to go to the gym) so thought i might give it a look

Good luck.

The two campsites in Peebles have sacked off tents/totally closed.

For a three night minimum you can sleep in my garden if you like.

£300 quid?

Tents still ok at the Forest Lodges I believe

The new trails at GT are pretty jumpy/bermy, the blacks are more varied- you can easily knock them all off in a morning but they benefit a lot from a second or third run and they're all short enough to do that. Depends what you want really. I think they're a brilliant addition but they're not much in keeping with your request.

(GT is still slightly awkward to navigate because of the forest lodges closure, and the janet's brae road up from peebles is due to close again soon so that basically cuts the entire lower half of the forest in half. Not a disaster but it makes the excellent western offpistes harder to build into a full ride)

Yeah i had guessed they were only a quick blast which im happy to do on the last morning before a long drive home.

was just trying to figure out whats best to do offpiste wise trailforks is pretty confusing and dont have much info compared to golfie. Have downloaded a couple of race maps so might follow them was just after some recommendations particularly after the storms recently

I was at Thornielee a couple of weeks ago, hadn't been for years. Would thoroughly recommend, trails are shorter than the Golfie but are steeper and more intense. Not necessarily harder but there's no rest. We really enjoyed them. And it's really compact so no trouble navigating.

For Glentress - I’d highly recommend Zorro and Hammer time, look north of the mast and you’ll see them on Strava.

If you over Inners way, look up the Trig descent from the summit NW of elibank Law. We did this after a full days uplift, getting there nearly killed me but it was so worth it, even in minging conditions.

Golfie - would recommend Dances with Wolves into Lone Wolf.

I’m also back in a couple of weeks and very keen!!

Thornielee, Yair and Cademuir will be a lot quieter than GT/Inners/Golfie, I live here and mostly ride Yair and Golfie to avoid the crowds.

There's off piste tech at all of them, but more easy options at GT/Inners

You have Yair,Golfie,GT off piste,Thornielee,Cademuir,Inners

loads of Steep techy trails to test yourself, not sure if the wigwams are still hireable at GT which are cheap enough

Rode a couple off-piste stuff at GT for the first time just this weekend. Did Thunderstruck and Careless Whisper. They're nice trails - easier than the Golfie but steep and techy in places. Also did Plan B / Trailfairy Plan whatever the accepted name is a few months ago by accident - fairly took me by surprise which how steep it is. The new flow trails at GT are still absolutely hoaching at the weekend but nevertheless fun and easy to lap.

Not sure what condition everything is in there, but based on past Tweedlove events, I would head up to the mast and ride Hammer Time, Zorro and B Side. Other stages often used are Careless Whisper and Fort Jenny.

Has Hammertime bedded in a bit? We rode it when it was fairly fresh (I think) and I really struggled, it was so deep and slick with mud. The enduro kids we were riding with loved it 🙂
