Yo,

So I've been away for 3 months in New Zealand, I get back and after my first ride I notice my bash is cracked.

To my knowledge, its never sustained a massive "bash" since I've had it (about a year) and I have no idea when this could of happened - is it possible the cold caused it? The bike is stored in a shed.

Bit peeved as I thought at the time "I'd treat myself to the expensive one" instead of getting a cheapo... should of gotten the cheapo!

And no, it's not overtightened... ❗

Additionally, what lube did you use? Many of the component manufacturers, including E13, advise avoiding certain lubes

Have you got washers in behind the chain ring bolts?

I'll check the lubes.

No, it's not over tightened. Even if it was, the steel inserts surely prevent anything happening there. So, no overtighten PLUS the inserts = not overt tightened x 2.

Nah, no washers - is this a thing?

Do you know what it's made of? Most plastic parts should have a code moulded in so you can recycle it.
I don't think it will be the cold, but maybe stress fracture.

Edit, just seen your last post, that's pretty crap design if it doesn't like something normally used on a bike.

yeah had I known that when I purchased it I would of just grabbed a metal one. probably says in the little words somewhere in the box but reading that is like reading the EULA everytime iTunes updates.

It was a thing, but is no longer. Used to have to run washers on the old models, but it looks like they're built in now
