ok ordered a wheel for the turbo and also a new rear cassette. Wasn’t with my bike when I ordered the cassette but checked the spec online which said 12-28 10speed cassette which is what I ordered. Went to fit tonight and the bike has 12-32 10speed cassette. Can I still use this cassette with the rear mech as set up? I am guessing for the turbo this won’t make much difference but if not I will have to return and reorder.

You should be able to, yes if what you're saying is that your turbo wheel will run 12-28, but the cassette on the bike is 12/32, the main thing is that they're both 10-speed cassettes. What you might find is that the the indexing is slightly out, but that's nothing to do with the cassette ratios, just that different wheels sometimes vary. My old turbo wheel was 1.5 turns on the mech cable adjuster different from my bike wheel, so I just got used to adjusting the mech quickly whenever I put it on the turbo. That may not be an issue anyway, particularly if the hubs are the same and the cassette won't have any bearing on it.

I always run closer ratio cassettes on turbo wheels. Means you get smaller steps when shifting.

Cheers gents. I will stick it on the bike tonight and see how it goes. Hopefully it indexes the same and I don't have any issues! Closer ratio will certainly be a bit better on the turbo.

Nothing to do with the turbo but you’ll need to check that your mech can cope with the larger cassette, plus you’ll have more chain stretch if you go big/big by mistake.

The bike already has the big cassette on it which works fine for day to day riding, commuting etc. The change is having the littler cassette for the turbo.
