Since lockdown, I've put on a bit of weight (too much beer, getting more sleep and not walking about the large office I used to commute to). Over the spring / summer / autumn I was doing fine exercising outside e.g. riding to all the local windmills but my mileage has dropped off with the weather getting wetter / colder.

Looking at turbo trainers, they go from £50 https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TRJOBMG/365x-competition-mag-turbo-trainer#TRJOBMG to lots - I'm maxing out at £420 https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TRJOBMG/365x-competition-mag-turbo-trainer#TRJOBMG
At the cheap end, is there any advantage of fluid over magnetic?

At the expensive end - any good alternatives to the Wahoo Kickr?

DC Rainmaker is a good start for what you need.

Given the lockdown stocks of Turbos are going to be limited again.  Last spring I went for the 'cheapest' well reviewed smart trainer I could find which was an Elite Zumo, I am since glad I spent a bit more for a smart trainer than a wheel on dumb trainer.

Likewise I went for An Elite Zumo. If you're an AA Member you get 10% off as well in Halfords...which brings it down a bit.

I've been pleased with mine. Had no idea what I was buying when I panic bought before the first lockdown. The included software is a bit naff IMO but have got in to Zwift, along with everyone else. a whole new world awaits!

Thanks - finding anything in stock to buy is the big problem it seems!
