Hi,

Picking up a turbo at the weekend and wondering whether I need a riser. If so can I make one out of wood or does it need to be very specific dimensions according to the turbo?

Thanks

Just put a piece or two of wood under front wheel.
Some like front wheel quite bit higher off ground than others.

Wood block, book etc. all work - ideally to match how much the turbo lifts the rear but I doubt you'd notice a few mm here and there.

As for whether a block of some description is needed, I'd say yes. Without one I used to get quite a bit of wrist pain from the increased angle.

I usually pop the front wheel on a roll of duck tape. The perfect hight for my turbo

Bit of old paving flag will do it too.

I did as they did but then got the block free with my new turbo

TBH I would not pay any money for one and would just use the something about the right height method advised above.

My Elite one has a rubber base, stops me shuffling forward on smooth floors.

We sometimes do Sufferfest sessions in a large function room at my rugby club during winter... I could easily shuffle the entire length of the dancefloor during a good interval session.

Before I got it, I used either a piece of 30mm MDF or a big Yellow Pages opened out so my wheel sat in the spine.

You just want to bring your front wheel to the same height as your back wheel...

House brick. The wheel fits nicely in the V shaped indentation.

I got an Elite one to go with my Elite turbo - it's at a different bloody height 🙄

Random trivia - that indent is called a frog

Had a plastic riser block with my trainer but it cracked. Now use a brick. If the brick cracks, I'll start taking the effort to lose weight more seriously.
