On that there SportsPursuit thingy. Claimed 1600 Lumens for £87 including a decent bar clamp and UK charger seems like a decent alternative to a Magicshine. Does anyone want to talk me out of it before I press the "buy" button?

It's a magicshine.

There's no way the 1200L makes 1200 lumens- they seem to be using the universal ebay measuring system 😉

But the claimed-1600 one looks like it's probably a 4xXP-G type, similiar to the Magicshine MJ-872/Fluxient 4x, which are good. Will depend a bit on the switching and the optics though.

They are made by Xeccon (chinese manufacturer who also rebrand lights for One23 amongst others) - the 1600 lumen one will have similar internals to the MJ872 and Fluxient 4x both of which delivered around 900 lumens in the 2013 Lights Shoot out.

The 1200 will be around 600-700 lumens.

I've gone and ordered one. I'll let you know what it's like - though given the last "powerful" bike light I bought was an Airlight P7 I'm guessing it can only be an improvement. It's all within my SportsPursuit "rewards" points anyway so not real money 😉
