Anyone got experience fitting a Tubus Tara front rack? I really can't work out how to do it
My bike has Kona P2 forks, has rack mounts halfway down but only mudguard tabs (ie at the rear)
Tara is meant to fit onto these, but when I offer it up, the angles are all wrong, no chances the 'arms' on it can be horizontal. Do fork rack bolts come at different heights? Are there adaptor plates or something? Am I missing something really obvious?
Failing that, anyone have a good suggestion for a rack similar to a Tara, which might do the job please?
I think there is some variation in mounting points on forks.
on my touring bike, Tara is mounted on rear tabs and the end of the tube on rack are pointing forward.
Haver you tried both way round?

Forks look a bit like this, it's a Kona Dew-e
I messed it up first time too, took pics and posted up here. Someone put me right. That was a decade ago though. I'll dig it out and take pics after lunch if the penny hasn't dropped by then. (Salsa Fargo)
This is the most wrong way I tried, note the bottom ends by bending back up so there is no horizontal bar for the bottom fitting of the pannier. I could have lived with that but it left much less tyre room and I had Big Apples on at the time.

At least with it the right way up this time. On my forks it's easy, I have a second set of mounting holes at the front of the fork, so I just bolt up through hole A. Since it looks like you only have mounts to the rear of the dropout, if you were to use hole A, the main bar of the rack would be in the way of wheel fittings, so you're going to need to go with hole B (two holes to choose from on the new vwesion of the rack), and make it clear the tube of the fork by using a longer bolt and a cylindrical standoff from the fitting kit. On the instructions on the Tubus website, this is item 8, an 11mm long standoff.

Yup, ta, thanks
But my bike only has mudguard mounts (by the apex of the A on your excellent picture) and the angles are all wrong. I'll try and get a pic later
Cross posting I guess, I uploaded the pics from the phone, then moved to the PC to put the words in.

New pic. See the rear bolt through the mounting hole. Note to make this work on mine so the support bars sit horizontal, I've taken them off and swapped left to right so the mounting holes/slot is now above the bar.
This any help? Kona Sutra has P2 fork and come with the Tara
Thanks all for the help and photos! STW FTW!
Turns out it does fit, with a bit of swearing, and doing it in the evening without a 2y old 'helping' me. The lower disc caliper bolt gets in the way of the mounting tabs (needs an angle grinder quickly...)
But basically, as my bike only has the rear-facing mudguard tabs on the bottom of the forks (and not front facing rack mounts like in the other forks in the photos), it's a right faff!
Thanks again for the help!
