I just gone tubeless on the road bike and the little lock ring on the valve stem keeps coming loose. Don’t remember this happening on my mtb when I had it.
I’m wondering how essential these are as the tyres aren't loosing pressure. I spose if the valve got knocked might be a problem..What d’ya all rekon

It's only to hold the valve in position and snug the rubber bung up so it can seal initially. You need it there but it shouldn't have to be more than fingertight.

These work well. Tool removes valve cores as well.
