Is there a limit to the amount of punctures a tyre can take? I have developed a slow puncture and on counting the dots of sealant visible I’ve come up with 40.

The sealant had dried up inside and I’ve added half the recommended amount as that’s all I’ve got. This has slowed the slow puncture but not enough to complete a ride.
When my new sealant eventually turns up am I asking it to do too much of a job ,should I be looking at a new tyre ?

How many dots of sealant do you have on your tyre and does it stay up.

I don’t begrudge buying a new tyre as 40 punctures would equal over 10 inner tubes even if you were a serial patcher.

I doubt that the number of punctures sealed matters - each one gets sealed independently.

Unless the tyre is old and knackered anyway I’d put the right amount of fresh sealant in and hope it seals.

I counted 32 in a road tyre and it was still going strong. Way more than I would have got with tubes, but I guess I'm probably less picky about riding through debris now that it's tubeless.

I've never counted. I've also never had the sealant really dry out, just empty out as it does its job.

I assume the limit is a lot. I've retired a tyre that had a huge gash, worn out tyres, and put a couple of worms in the tyres for larger holes that the sealant might struggle with.
