Fairly new to tubeless so forgive me if this is something really obvious.

Cleaning my bike yesterday I noticed this and double checked today.

Spinning the rear wheel the rim is running true laterally and vertically but the tyre has a massive lateral wobble in it.

Setup is a month-old Conti X King Protection running tubeless at around 30psi on a Stan's Flow.

Is this a sign that the sidewalls have distorted and I need to bin the tyre?

Not long after I fitted the tyre it had a massive burp and I had to limp back to the car at very low pressure for about 1.5km - would this have knackered it?

It sounds to me a lot like it isn't seated properly. Check all around the tyre for any points where the tyre is slightly tucked into the rim - that would certainly make the tyre appear distorted.

(assuming you haven't done this!)

Thought of that - checked (and have just double checked). Tyre is seated evenly all the way round both sides.

u could have a problem with the bead in that spot and even though i am not suggesting its a warrenty problem i would a suggest u get in touch with conti via the web site or phone distrubutor cambrin tyres and then after there suggestion or as well as get in touch with who u bought it from
have just had a similer problem with a rubber queen and mate/customer got in touch first with the above then informed me,i had it replaced under warrenty with our super duper guys at Madison

Similar problem too, 2.4 RQ UST, buckled in about 20miles - emailed conti, warranty no problem, happens every now & again they said. Shame nextdaytyres com were so arsey about it as they lost out on kitting out 18bikes with 2.4 RQs

That's good to hear.

Have already mailed Conti and Singletrack Bikes (where I bought it from).

Thanks.

I'm about to buy a pair. Good to know they recognise the problem and deal with warranties well.

Reply from Conti/Cambrian.

No quibble - return the tyre to them direct and they will replace under warranty. As Banks said, it seem to be something that happens every so often.

Top customer service direct from the manufacturer/distributor.

Thanks for the feedback. I can now purchase (on the UK) with much confidence.
