Put two holes in a brand new maxxis DD agrressor at bike park wales last week. The larger hole (1cm slit) wouldn’t seal with a plug so I’ve now got a tube in
ive seen an mbr vid where he advises super glueing the hole then sealing with a tyre patch on the inside of the tyre to set up tubeless again
would a tube patch work or do i need to get some specific tyre patches? They look pretty similar online but happy to buy some specific tyre patches if it makes a difference
cheers
james
ive used these (or similar)
As above, just replenished mine, they are cheaper if you buy in bulk
I've used standard tyre patches on a hole of a similar size. My first attempt failed, but second time round I scrubbed the area to be patched with steel wool, and left the patch clamped in place for a while.. The patch was applied using the normal rubber glue. It's worked fine for about 4 months...
Ok cheers, I’ll get some ordered.
the patch attaches to the inside of the tyre with the plug poking out thru the hole then you trim off the excess?

Yes thats how it works
Used the previously mentioned ebay link on a brand new Minion SS after I pinched it on its first day in Italy. Has been on the rim for a couple of weeks now and really pleased with how well its done. Would defo recommend them to rescue a knackered tubeless tyre. I imagine it won't last forever this way as my hole is on the sidewall but every day it lasts is a blessing!
