I'm currently running 38mm Panaracer Gravel Kings on my Arkose, set up tubeless with Stans tape and fluid.
I've had 2 or 3 punctures recently (last one this morning) which after a bit of messing about have been sealed by the Stans fluid.
However a couple of them were cuts 2-3mm long, and i'm a bit nervous about them springing a leak again.
Should i be stripping the tyres off and fixing the punctures with patches inside the tyre, or should i just leave it?
I'm new to this tubeless thing so not really sure about long-term maintenance..
Keep the sealant topped up, it slowly dries out so depending on ambient temperature you might have to add sealant anywhere from three to six month intervals. Leave the wheel standing for a hour or so then shake and you should hear fluid sloshing, if you don't then add more sealant. If you hear a thud or knocking then you've got a stanimal so you need to take it out.
Sealant will seal small holes* but larger ones will need tyre plugs or anchovies. Longer cuts might need a couple of plugs but the biggest will need a tyre boot fixing to the inside of the tyre.
If you do decide to fit an inner tube then run a scrunched up paper tissue around the inside of the tyre to find any small thorns - the thorn will snag the tissue and it will be obvious where it is.
*The size of hole that sealant will deal with depends on tyre pressure, the higher the pressure the smaller the hole that can be sealed. Your 2-3mm hole would be easily sealed on an MTB or fat bike tyre with much lower pressures.
