Bought a brand new Minion SS last week in Italy and second ride on it got a sidewall hole. Managed to fix it at the time with a noodle type thing but it was a temporary fix and I'm looking to fix it a little better for the next time it ever dries! Anybody got any fixes that are going to be more permanent that I've not heard of?

The mushroom shaped plugs you get on eBay, brilliant.

+1for Mushrooms. Saved several tyres with these. Leave a tube in for a couple of days after fitting and they work a treat

Another vote for the mushrooms. Got six in a Purgatory at the moment including one in the sidewall. Tread is getting a little worn now so next time it will be a new tyre. Will be putting the new Uberbike sealant in at the same time.

Anchovie repairs are permanent

Anchovies can be permanent, mushrooms are permanent.

Anchovies can be permanent, mushrooms are permanent.

They're pretty much permanent on a bicycle, don't forget they were originally intended as an emergency repair for motorcycles, repaired M/C tyres should apparently be limited to 50mph...

So if it's up to the job of getting a 150kg+ M/C and it's rider home at 50mph it should be fine longer term under a ~15kg dandyhorse and it's rider, seldom topping ~30mph pretty much forever...

I'm not disagreeing cookeaa, I've had some outlast the tyre, but I only ever leave them in the tread area, sidewall I think the better protection afforded from the plug type is a better long term fix.

I ordered some. I’ve got a cut on a minion SS that deals with an anchovy but it gradually works out over 40-50 miles til it starts leaking again

Cheers guys I think if it weren't for the exposed spot id risk just leaving the anchovie in even though it still took a fair amount of effort to get it to seal (could of been my rubbish first attempt of shoving the flippin anchovy in the hole). I've ordered the mushrooms and will stick one in and leave it to cure until next summer!
