I got a bargain set of Deemax that I'm setting up as an uplift/DH wheelset so wanting to put some sticky rubber on them (Minion DHF 2.5" DP Super Tacky)and run them tubless.
I've done normal Maxxis (single ply and EXO) on my Stans without any issues but these seem to be a little more of a battle.
Anyone got any tips to help ease the pain? My EXO rear has gone on easy enough but the DP isn't playing ball..
I've currently got a tube in, blown up to about 50psi, to try and help seat the beads..
I'm having exactly the same issues, managed to get a set of ust minions set up on a pair of crossmax sx wheels though - that was pretty easy. But the none ust minions are being trickier on my deemax.
I'm considering getting a fresh set of UST's for the deemax although I've heard some issues with weaker side walls than the normal dual ply minions.
Neat washing up liquid on the bead, take the valve core out, try the track pump to get it seated, failing that use either a compressor or a co2 cartridge or 2 to get it seated then stick the valve core back in and inflate to desired pressure.
Thanks @steved.
I'll try the neat washing up liquid. Done the 'remove core' and have a compressor but that didn't work. Did try watered down washing up liquid..
The washing up liquid worked!
@stugus: here's what I did..
Put tyre and tube on
Inflated to about 50psi and left for half hour.
Carefully unseated one side only to remove tube and insert valve
Reseat removed side and smothered bead and rim with washing up liquid.
Remove valve core and inflated with a compressor (took a while to pop the bead in)
Squirt latex into tyre and replace core
Inflate to about 40psi
Do the shaking procedure a few times all the way round with the wheel horizontal
Et voila...
I put Stans in first and spin tyre round, acts as a lube and seals at the same time.
