.... A new winters coat and shoes for the wife...? Good song
Anyhow. Hole in sidewall of a rocket Ron just above the bead. It won't seal, and I have applied a park patch (those clear ones which I always thought were more 'get me home' before doing a proper repair) it still hasn't sealed properly although is a little better.
Is a stronger patch kit worth it? Which one? Or is it new tyre time (tyre is three rides old sob sob)
Thanks all!
weldtite worms will sort it
I cut up an old tyre and superglue a patch of sidewall over the cut on the inside, it seems to work well, saves buying a new tyre!
I repaired a small cut in my bontrager 29-1 that wouldn't deal with fluid...
Second ride out on it today, 45 minutes in, and I thought I'd been shot, the bang was pretty impressive!
Sidewall split right open.
Spare tube and a neoprene camera case stuck inside got me home...!
Just above the bead is a tricky spot - you won't patch it. Need to plug it like the Jedi says. Even then it may not work, depends how close to the bead it is.
Yeah I think that's the issue. There is maybe millimeters of patch covering the hole before the bead.
Thanks for the responses I'll google weldtite worms
Hutchinson rep air kit. Although the glue in it does look like superglue.
I repaired a tear like that with gorilla tape, just to get me out on a ride. I forgot about it till I knackered the tyre, months later!
