I’ve never used tubeless tyres before but they are fitted to my new bike. I did a little reading online suggestion 25-30 psi is a great place to start, then fettle up or down by 1psi at a time to find your personal preference.
However, after a great ride today where the tyres felt spot on (at 27psi), I’ve cleaned it up and noticed the sidewall said 35-65psi - they’re Specialized purgatory control 29er 2.3 bliss2 ready.
Do I need to put the minimum in as spec’ed by the sidewall? The chap who sold me the bike seemed to know his stuff and they had maybe 25psi in there when I got it. Is the internet and the seller right, or is the sidewall tyre specific instruction king in this case?

Manufacturers tend to massively overstate the pressure needed on tubeless tyres, don't know why!
Probably some sort of legal arse-covering exercise.
All sidewall minimums are to be ignored. Probably worth paying a little attention to the max I suppose.
Of course you could always try them at 35 and see how they feel 😉
I wouldn't ride 35psi off road - far too hard. Weird how manufacturers are seemingly risk-averse to the possibility of the tyre folding off the rim but happy to compromise grip.

No, starting at 25 psi is pretty normal.
I wonder if the reviews done on the tyre were done at 35 psi?
If yes (as per manufacturer's guidance) presumably they would be quite negative (limited compliance, minimal grip etc.).
And then I wonder if Specialized would agree that it was a fair review of their product?

Its a very good point. I don't think I own a single tyre that has a minimum pressure value less than 30 psi (which tends to be the maximum they are ever used at)
