Hi all I have some crossmax st and Bontrager xr4 team issue tyres but for the life of they leak air... I have watched the youtube videos etc cleaned the rim and tyre with soapy water, put in some stans etc and pumped like a banshee with a track pump and the tyre inflates fine beads pop in look down and foam round the whole of the rim.. no massive amounts of air being released but enough to make foam, which says leaks.... it all seemed so simple ust tubless rim + apparent tubeless tyre but oh no....help
If needs be I will take it to a shop for words of wisdom but in Epsom so not sure where to go without getting ripped off..
Have you pumped it up *really* hard? Did it for me...
i have the conti x king protection & they were a b*tch to seal but worth the effort. watch the stans no tubes video www.notubes.com/Movies.aspx and keep shaking & turning, if my memory serves me correctly i was doing this over a period of 3 days
check the valve one of my valves leaked very slightly which i was gutted to find out after foaming all around the wheel had stopped i was about to give in when i noticed it!
Owing to the porous nature of the tyres you may well need to do the shake it around, leave it, pump it, repeat process a couple of times. 24 hrs later it will be fine!!
I have shaken and turned and pumped a few times now and leaks are gettting less but no idea the actual tyre had so many minute holes... Looks so simple on the videos..
Valves seem good and I will leave overnight and see if I have any pressure left and repeat process...
Thanks for all the help so far.
Does anybody use these tyres tubeless and if so any similar issues??
some tyres are more porous than others and take a lot longer to seal all the tiny holes in the sidewalls, perservere with it and you will seal them
Stick at it. It'll be fine tomorrow or after a ride!
Maybe try a different latex fluid, puncture guard seems pretty good with bonty mudx and xr3s on xt rims. It might sound silly but have you given the fluid a good shake, stans is quite watery straight out the bottle.
They'll not seal properly until you've ridden them a fair bit. Once they've stopped foaming I'd top up the sealant a bit too.
Don't put too much sealant in though, otherwise you may aswell put a tube in, a capful is plenty.
Just check that the tyres are tubeless ready , some of the Bonty team tyres are not . It will say tubeless ready somewhere on the carcass of the tyre if they are .
