Yes I've done it but it was the hardest tyre I've ever set up. 2.5" BC on flow rims.
Using an aldi compressor and almost a whole bottle of washing up liquid. needed a lot of perserverence! I was glad I'd done it in the end.

Yes, it can be done. Mine went up fine on Crests, but the sidewalls are really, really leaky. Copydex the inside of the sidewalls first, slap plenty of it on, leave to dry lying down. Same on the other side. Then a bit of extra Stans, slosh them about and top up before riding a few times and it should take. Mine have been running like that for a couple of winters now. 🙂

Had some on Crests without a problem. Did clean the inside of the tyre with some disc brake cleaner first.

2.5" barons on crest? Are you sure? no leakage through the walls at all with 2.5", these are heavy, thick walled DH tyres. Did you set up the 2.3" non black chilli Baron? Different animal entirely.

The 2.5" is such a heavy walled tyre that the air entering doesn't push the tyre wall to the rim. Normally a bit of washing up liquid helps bridge the gap but I found these to be a nightmare to seal. I managed it but washing up liquid everywhere by the time it was done.

Yep they work, the newer ones with the Apex sidewall work better otherwise you do get leakage. I ran a non Apex pair tubeless all last winter anyway, they slowly leak some of the tubeless solution through the sidewalls but it isn't a biggy.

Don't use washing up liquid, it doesn't have the same lubricating properties as soap and makes a load of foam. Just soapy water is fine as per stan's instructions.

reminds me I need to sell my 26" Barons now I've gone 29".

They do a 2.3 BC one too, that's what I run in winter on my HT. Very porous sidewalls, like I said, but goes up ok. No experience of the 2.5, sorry for any confusion.

No bother with mine - dual ply ones on Flow EX rims using a Bontrager Flash Charger pump
