I have a thorn sized puncture that won't seal on my gravel bike. There's no sign of any sealant coming out of the hole at all and it has been in there for ages so I'm not overly surprised. Do I take the tyre off and clean the old stuff out or simply add more sealant? What do the STW masses do? Are you as lazy as I am?
If it's bone dry in there if take tyre off and pull out the big chunks. Once tried to fully clean but it's a waste of time
I just keep adding more. I once tried to clean out the old sealant but it just meant I needed more to get it to seal again!
Yeah, like the chief above I don't remove any as the weight saving is minimal and you might end up unplugging leaks or porous sidewalls.
It takes bloody ages to get all the sealant and you end up holding a few grammes of rubbery bits. Unless there's a big solidified chunk in there affecting balance, then don't bother.
Depends. If it’s big lumps and watery liquid that has separated, then I remove the loose lumps and mop up the dead liquid with some paper towels.
The just add new sealant.
I just top up, used tyres are usually harder to get to re-seat, and I usually only top up once or twice before the tyre is worn out anyway.
Pour more in via the valve hole. Don’t look at it 🙈

I find the minute you remove the tyre, you have to clean all around the bead where the sealant has done its job and sealed, which is a painful job you do with a scouring pad, as other say, i tend to top up where possible, tyres only last two or three top ups anyway!
