I have been looking at the race face stash strap lately, but can't find anywhere with any stock, seems perfect for what I'm after (packless summer evening rides) I have also seen the backcountry motherload strap, but again out of stock. Anyone aware of any other strap style systems to attach a tube, basic tools co2 to a frame please? Or anywhere with stock of the stash strap?

Thanks in advance

No you can't they are out of stock on backcountrys own website....kind of why I'm looking for alternatives really. None of the backcountry or Stash strap products are in stock anywhere, so wondered if there were other options?

Daft question but why not jersey pockets or saddle pack?

Saddle pack crap with droppers
Jersey pockets means wearing a jersey with pockets and the bouncing around on a mtb is crap?

Hadn't thought of the first point due to 27.2 seatpost on my bike and resulting lack of dropper.

Can't say I've had a problem with bouncing around.

Length of velcro £4 from B&Q, not had any issues using that. 😀

Thing is Velcro won't hold the co2, levers etc. I may have a go at making something myself.

As for jerseys etc, i don't like having all that stuff bouncing away, plus I don't use jereseys with pockets.... hence the strap idea works for me, just trying to find a neater solution to tape

Google for velcro strap and buckle.

As above rickos, a Velcro strap won't hold the tools etc securely like the stash straps. Else I would of spent a coupe of quid on one

Have you considered a wee saddle roll/bag..?

Lezyene Road Caddy might be a goer with a dropper too:

The piggy looks like a spot on solution. I've often thought there is underutilised space below bottle cages. But £42.40, having a laugh!

The piggy thing is great but I don't have space to fit it on my Jeffsy...

The weecog role looks great but I am really cautious with any kind of saddle mounted solution as if it in anyway contacts the dropper it's going to likely cause a problem. Hence looking at the strap solutions.

It does - or at least the super sticky stuff I steal from server cable management arms does.

If I remember I'll swap the Road Caddy onto the mtb and get some photos. Think it might clear the dropper collar, but only one way to find out....

There is a very cheap-£3.50 - Decathlon seat bag that just attaches to saddle rails and works fine with both my bikes with droppers, no contact with moving parts.

Is it big enough for a tube, multi tools, levers and Co2? Fog?

I sometimes use a Weecog slider on a bike with a Reverb it doesn't cause any problems.
My current solution for camelbak-less summer riding is a Dakine Hotlaps bum bag. Enough room for essential tools and I can squeeze in a lightweight pertex jacket if it looks like rain. It also has a sleeve for a water bottle.

Yep, I get a 29er tube, multi tool and levers in. Don't use Co2 but I would think there is room.

Bar Fly Hopper is a reasonable alternative to the Backcountry Research straps - sigmasport had some in stock

Velcro strap WITH A BUCKLE will do what you need, but if you've now moved onto saddle bags, then have a look on Chain Reaction. There's suitable bags from Dhb, Cube and Topeak on there. Mount on the saddle rails, don't interfere with dropper post and can be had big enough for tube, multitool, etc. Mini pump on one of those bottle mount clips and away you go.

There's looks like even more room when in the flesh. They're around £12 (off Amazon) iirc so think I'll probably grab another

So will that fit a 29er tube, multitool, levers and co2 legend?

Thanks for the photos.

Think you'd struggle with an mtb tube. At the moment it's just got a road tube and a Topeak 21 multi tool, there's a little room left but not much. I'm just thinking of getting a multi-tool, tubeless repair kit and a tyre boot in it

Couple of packing photos via teh Google

Had issues with a WeeCog Slider at full compression with the seat down. Switched to an Alpkit Enduro Pod. Tube, CO2, multitool and levers. Fits nicely under my shock.

I used to have a frame triangle bag back in the day on my first muddy fox. Used to call it a sandwich bag for some reason. Rubbish for storing stuff though really and it wouldn't fit my GT with the triple triangle....

Anyway back to enduro straps etc

Ortlieb mini pack, clips onto the saddle rails and doesn't touch the seat post at all, I have the mounting brackets on both MTBs and just swap the pack between them. Plenty of space inside.

I use one of these  https://www.bigxtop.com/products/saddle-roll

l’ve had a few of the zip up saddle bags, which work with droppers and real world conditions have destroyed the zips pretty quickly....

Just ordered a mtb strap on for an inner and I’m pretty covered for most things with out a pack now..

Granite design worth a look. Ordered direct and arrived (from Far East IIRC) within a week to 10 days. £6 each or so.

There's also:

https://www.polaris-bikewear.co.uk/Fixie-velcro-fastening-straps-p/pol01-7544.htm

and

http://www.mtbstrapon.co.uk

Although these don't have the extra internal straps mentioned by previous posters. I'm still waiting for one that comes complete with some kind of integrated wrap/bag so everything doesn't get covered in muck and/or multi-tools don't go rusty. I could just try and source some kind of small drybag I suppose to do this.

Bought a couple of those Louri straps at the bike show, nice people and relatively local to me. I like the elasticated straps, keeps everything in place when you take the strap off your bike

I bought a DaKine Hot Laps Gripper, which is a bit like a saddle bag designed to attach to down tube instead. It fits a tube, 2 co2 cartridges, mini tool & tyre lever plus a set of brake pads & a chain link. Can’t find them in stock anywhere any more so I bought my wife a Back Country Research clone instead; works as well but doesn’t protect the contents as much.

Saddle fitting wise, both our road bikes have Cyckit Aeroclam seat packs. They are moulded and tuck right under the saddle. Wouldn’t get a mtb tube in there though I don’t think but would definitely work with a stopper post & being more of a rigid plastic easier to keep clean.

Thanks for reminding me about the DaKine Hot Laps Gripper, it seemed the ideal solution providing more protection, I almost bought one a couple of months ago but decided to wait on more reviews.
I presume yours has stayed in place ok over rough trails etc?

Been fine, mounted just below bottle cage on down tube. It’s not moved at all.

Great stuff, that's exactly where I was going to mount mine too, I think it's a much under-used space on the bike 🙂

Take a look at MTB Strap On - cheap, custom colours and handmade in the finest county of Cornwall. A little review of sorts on my Blog

Yeh I mentioned those in my earlier post but they don't provide any protection for the content.

Fizik saddle pack clips to the saddle. The large will easily take a 29er inner tube, Hexus II and CO2. I also use a small one and can still get two road tubes, smaller tool and CO2 in that. I use an Innovations microflate - the smallest CO2 device. Obviously you will need a Fizik saddle.

To be honest, given the size of the inner tube, I'd wrap the tool and CO2 inside the tube and secure with a slice of old inner tube, and velcro under the saddle. It can't be bigger than a tubular tyre! And for authentic old skool, use a leather toestrap instead of velco.

I'm planning on buying a blackcountry mutherload strap, even though silverfish now supply them, they only supply a limited colour range so I'll end up ordering from America. Could you not order and wait for them to come into stock or is it a rush job?

@pottersmtber ah sorry, missed that you mentioned MTB Strap On.

He had been testing an integrated pouch but I believe it had a tendancy to flop about on bigger sizes. And no one likes a large strap on to be flopping about willy nilly.  Not sure if he's still working on it or not now.

In stock in black, ordered from them and from backcountry personally,  might be faster and definitely now issues with import tax.

Second post on this thread for me, Have taken a slightly different approach with my Hightower, custom bag from Weecog and OneUp EDC strap to hold a tube indeed the DT. Also using the Oneup pump (brilliant pump on it's own right!) and will probably order the tool before too long to sit down the pump handle.

Yes but for the frame, specifically below the bottle cage. Something like momo has posted above but cheaper, I'm considering a custom beerbabe bag but wondered whether there was another alternative.

http://mtbstrapon.co.uk/

I picked up a couple after seeing an STW freshgoodsfriday.
hand made to order, turned up after a couple of days.
Will be using it to replace the electricians tape that I've been using for years to hold tube/levers under my top tube.
plus a One Up EDC pump for tools/co2 obv.

I've a Bearbabe downtube bag, was about £35, it's big enough to take this lot with room to spare.

It's not waterproof though so you'll need to protect those items that don't play well with water.

Changed my approach since my previous post in this thread. Now using a Fabric Keg that I got for Christmas and a cheap buckled velcro strap from Amazon (about a fiver for 12 of them) to hold a tube under saddle. Prefer the Keg to the Alpkit bag as it's more accessible, durable and waterproof.

Just put the punctured tube where the spare one came from, surely?

You know everyone else is running tubeless and just carries a spare tube for rare worst case scenarios?

Doh - didn't think of that!

Rather embarrassing, really, as one of my bikes is tubeless. (But I just use a saddlebag, as I don't use a dropper)

That definitely introduces different buying criteria for tubeless/non tubeless riders.
