What do you want to do. If your not racing tt or triathon do not buy a tt bike

Tt bikes are twitchy as ****, stiff , and uncomfy when not on the tt bars ( and thus out of reach of brakes)

Youll also be banned from organised group rides with clubs etc for the same reason

Tt bikes are one trick ponys

quite a lot. TT bike is for out and out speed for a fixed distance. Speed, at the expense of comfort, pleasure and some may say enjoyment. If you are worried about riding in drops, TT bars will scare the hell out of you! Get a nomal road bike, ride it on the hoods.

And if narrow tyres and poor brakes scare you, get a mountain bike

Road bike everytime. If for some bizarre and perverted reason you find yourself wanting to do a TT, you can convert a road bike to become a TT bike (sort of).
TT bikes can't do anything else - they're stiff, incredibly aero (arse high nose low) and rightly banned from most club runs, all normal forms of road/circuit racing and even some Sportives, thus limiting your riding options somewhat.

Buy a road bike - get used to it over time and soon you'll find that the drops are there for a reason.

try it, but you'll probably hate it.

give it a few rides, with some fast sweeping descents and you might love it.

If you're unsure about drops (and you shouldn't be, you get used to them in about half an hour) then aero bars are worse because you rest your forearms on the pads and steer with hands which is different to flat or drop
