Anyone know or got any bright ideas how to hold a trunnion shock to get the aircan off? Taken of the bike for a minor service but can't clamp in a vice & the cans to tight to twist off by hand

Put it back in the bike and try again, if it still won't undo you need a strap wrench Something like this it's held still in the bike so should undo.

Yep, get yourself a strap wrench. They're well worth a fiver.
